Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires 2004 is Decanter's Wine of the Year 2019

Decanter has unveiled Charles Heidsieck's Blanc des Millénaires 2004 as its Wine of the Year 2019 in the latest (January 2020) issue of the magazine.

A panel of Decanter World Wine Awards Regional Chairs, key contributors and Decanter staff were asked to nominate the wines that really made an impression on them over the past 12 months. The 117 wines from 23 countries were then tasted blind and scored out of 100.

Michael Hill Smith MW put forward the Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires 2004, which went on to be the overall highest scoring wine of the tasting with 97 points. The judges commented:

"Delicious; an elegant ensemble of yellow fruits, fresh apples and brioche. Power with delicacy, showing glorious complexity with a refreshing, slightly savoury finish. World class!"
