The Liberty Wines board comprises five non-executive directors and six executive directors. Between them, the non-executives have over 200 years‘ experience in the international wine trade, with on-trade and independent off-trade being their areas of speciality. Joe, Ben, Gerry and Joanne cover sales across Ireland.

David Gleave MW
A Master of Wine since 1986, David was first bitten by the wine bug while living in Dublin in the early 1980s. He originally founded Liberty Wines in London in 1997 with friends Michael and Martin of Shaw + Smith, Riquet Hess and Luciann Flynn. David is a leading expert on Italian wines.
Starting as a National Accounts Manager in 2008, Tom became Head of National Accounts in spring 2015. He is now responsible for our growing sales team across Ireland and the UK, including National Accounts.
Andrew joined Liberty Wines in February 2018, having worked for the past 15 years as a permanent and interim finance director, including within the food & drink manufacturing, hospitality and retail sectors.
Gonçalo joined Liberty Wines in April 2017 with 17 years of experience in domestic and export markets, having managed Asian and European business for Sogrape Vinhos then the development of their brands in the Portuguese On-trade.
Head of Sales Ireland
Joe started in the wine trade in 1986 with Oddbins in his native Glasgow. He was involved in the start-up of Novum Wines before moving to Ireland to join Gilbeys in 2006. With parents from Achill and Gweedore, this was more a homecoming than a migration. In late 2009, Joe set up WinePulse, before joining the Liberty Wines team in May 2012.
Born in Brisbane, Australia, Ben has been in Ireland since the mid-nineties and started with Liberty Wines in 2006. Prior to this, Ben’s background was in restaurants, hotels and food & wine retailers both in Europe and Australia. Ben looks after sales to both on- and off-trade customers in Dublin.
Key Accounts Manager
Joanne joined Liberty Wines in 2014. She developed a passion for wine and food during her studies at Shannon College of Hotel Management. Starting her wine career with Febvre wines in 1996, where she progressed to national on-trade key account manager, Joanne now focuses on growing the on-trade premium sector in Ireland.
Gerry has worked in the wine trade in London, Alsace, and back in his native Ireland since 1996. He joined Liberty Wines in January 2008 and looks after sales to both on- and off-trade outside Dublin, as well as some off-trade within Dublin. Gerry is a keen photographer and you can see some of his images throughout our site.
Marcus joined Liberty Wines in 2017. He trained as a chef in his native Australia and held positions in Victoria and Colorado before moving to Ireland. He has worked in wine sales since 2004 and is responsible for the Munster region, particularly in and around Cork city.
