Liberty Wines retains IWC Merchant of the Year title
We were thrilled to win four Merchant trophies at the International Wine Challenge’s Awards Dinner in London last night.
We were named Italy Specialist Merchant of the Year for the 17th time, On-Trade Supplier of the Year for the ninth time, and Wine Educator of the Year for the third consecutive year. Finally, the ‘champion of champions’ trophy for overall Merchant of the Year also came our way for the second year running.
As the results were announced, the judges made the following comments:
IWC On-Trade Supplier of the Year 2018
"Liberty just keep on expanding the boundaries of their service, whilst always getting the fundamentals right. For an on-trade supplier, superb logistics lie at the heart of the business. They also offer great wines."
IWC Wine Educator of the Year 2018
"This was a very considered entry, which did not solely focus on their WSET or trade education. They offer a properly customised educational offering."
IWC Italy Specialist Merchant of the Year 2018
"A really impressive range of wines, that offer quality at every price point."
IWC Merchant of the Year 2018
"Liberty Wines has swept the board in this year's Merchant Awards. They have won one award as Specialist, in Italian wines. They have won the Educator of the Year award, and they have won the hotly contested On-Trade Supplier award... Liberty seems like a great place to work and they clearly look after their team. They never rest on their laurels. The judges felt that the award was very well deserved."
These wins are down to the cumulative efforts of the fantastic team we have in place, who never stop trying to exceed the expectations of our customers, without whom we would not be here.
We would also like to congratulate the many award-winning producers in our portfolio, but especially Cherie Spriggs and the team at Nyetimber on her Sparkling Winemaker of the Year award - she is the first winemaker from outside of Champagne to win the award - and Justino’s, whose Madeira Terrantez 50 Years Old won the Manuel Lozano Trophy for the Champion Fortified Wine.
