Producer

Founded in 1989 by the Allegrini family, Corte Giara was created to offer a contemporary, approachable expression of Veneto’s classic varieties while drawing on the Allegrini family’s long-standing winemaking expertise. The wines are produced from grapes hailing from the family’s own vineyards and a trusted network of local growers who share the same commitment to quality and sustainability.

Growers follow eco-conscious viticulture, with no herbicides or pesticides, water use is monitored, and wines are bottled in lightweight glass with environmentally mindful packaging.

Corte Giara’s reds, from Valpolicella to Ripasso and Amarone, are sourced from hillside vineyards at 180–250 metres, where the Corvina offers juicy freshness and a supple tannin profile. The Pinot Grigio hails from sites around Lake Garda, producing clean, vibrant wines with clarity and lift.

Vineyards

Vineyards are located on the hillsides of the Valpolicella production area at an altitude between 180-250 metres above sea level and face south-east. Soils here are clay and chalk. The vines are 30 years old on average, with a plant density of about 3,000 vines per hectare.

Vintage

The spring and early summer of 2023 saw abundant rainfall which allowed the plants to hydrate, but cooler than average temperatures slowed down vine development. Prolonged summer rains promoted vigorous growth of both the canopy and bunches. This was followed by some periods of extremely high temperatures, which dried out the canopies and accelerated ripening. This resulted in harvest taking place slightly early to preserve the freshness of the fruit.

Vinification

The grapes were hand harvested, destemmed and then softly crushed. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled, stainless-steel tanks between 26-30°C with daily pump overs for 8-10 days. Malolactic fermentation occurred naturally. The wine was aged for three months in temperature-controlled, stainless-steel tanks before being bottled.
